What is Your Favorite Coffee Memory?
A LOVELY QUOTE
“Remember, coffee is not just a drink. It’s a way of life, a travel companion and an endless source of memories and inspiration.” Author unknown
MEMORIES
Reading that quote, I am taken back to my childhood, and a particular memory about coffee. Every morning, I would get out of bed, a full school day ahead of me. I would stagger from the bedroom, through the living room, and into the kitchen, where my father was sitting at the table, a steaming cup of coffee next to him, reading from a Louis L’ Amour novel, the long workday ahead of him, his day starting with a quiet moment, probably the last peaceful moment of his upcoming day.
I think of that memory often now that I am the grownup, preparing each day sitting at the table, a steaming cup of coffee next to me, settling my mind and finding comfort from that childhood, finding strength from the memory of that good man.
Coffee is not just a beverage. It is a part of the American fabric, as American as home, Mom, and apple pie, as the 4th of July, as Easter egg hunts and drive-in theaters. It is Disneyland and swimming in the lake on a hot summer day; it is the first tentative kiss at sixteen and making snow angels during the first snowfall of the winter. There is a very good reason why coffee is the most popular beverage in America, and it has very little to do with the taste.
Coffee is feel good!
