Are All Mochas the Same?
This question, about the ever-popular mocha, is one we hear from time to time, and although it might seem like a fairly simple question to answer, it is actually a bit more complicated than you might think.
We are Madres Espresso, serving the Olympia Metro area with two locations, our flagship coffee shop in West Olympia, on Cooper Point Road, and our newest coffee stand on Pacific Avenue on the east side. Two locations, one dedication, to providing the very best in service.
What is a mocha?
What exactly is this drink, then? To simply put, the mocha is short for a “Mocha latte” or a “Caffe mocha,” which is brewed with espresso, steamed milk, and delicious chocolate syrup or sauce on top. It’s basically a chocolate latte! The Mocha is a delicious chocolate-flavored espresso drink that makes coffee’s bitter and earthy flavors noticeable with a touch of sweetness. The creaminess of the steamed milk and the whipped cream adds to the powerful chocolate and coffee flavor combination.
The devil is in the details.
How much chocolate is used in the making of that mocha? What type of chocolate is used? What kind of milk? Dairy, almond? Whole or 2%? These questions may not seem important, but they do, in fact, change the taste of a mocha. Even the first part of that mocha definition, “brewed with espresso,” begs the question which coffee beans are used to prepare that espresso? So no, not all mochas are the same and, if you have a very refined taste, you will want to find the local coffee stand which prepares the mocha the way you prefer it.
Service, in our opinion, is much more important.
At Madres Espresso we certainly can do our best in preparing the mocha you prefer; it is not uncommon at all for us to use dairy milk for one customer and almond milk for another, and we gladly do that. However, if you really held our feet to the fire, and asked us what quality we consider to be the most important in a coffee stand, we would have to tell you it would be customer service.
You work hard. You have responsibilities. You experience stress. Just the day-to-day process of living can be tough, and our goal is to provide you with a positive experience when you stop by for your beverage. We offer a smile and a desire to make your day a better one through our interaction with you.
And that is the Madres promise!
